WASHING INSTRUCTIONS AND WARRANTIES
Swimwear requires good maintenance!
The fabrics of our burkinis are carefully selected for their quality and durability. Our customers often write to us about the exceptional quality of our collection, and we want to keep it that way. However, it's also important that you consider the delicate nature of fabrics.
Our collections are made of a stretchy, strong, and comfortable material that is partially composed of Lycra. Lycra is the material that ensures the perfect fit thanks to its enormous elasticity. It's important to thoroughly rinse your swimwear with water after each use because it's not resistant to harmful substances such as sunscreen, shampoo, perspiration, and water purifiers like chlorine. Rinsing immediately after swimming is therefore essential to prevent rapid wear.
Swimwear should always be stored dry.
Storing wet swimwear in the laundry basket, leaving it in your (plastic) bag, or wrapping it in a towel—it happens to all of us sometimes. Storing swimwear wet creates an ideal environment for the growth of microorganisms that damage the material. Clothes will smell musty, and this will also be reflected in the discoloration of your garment. Clothes containing elastane dry very quickly. Never dry swimwear near a heat source, such as a radiator or in direct sunlight. These heat sources weaken the elastane and cause the color to fade. Never dry your swimwear in the dryer; this heat will cause it to wear out completely.
It is best to let your swimwear dry in the open air and in the shade after rinsing it.
Buy your clothes in the right size.
Never buy a swimsuit/swimwear that's too small. It's uncomfortable, and the constant stretching of the material causes faster wear and tear.
Never buy a swimsuit/swimwear that's too big, as all swimwear becomes looser in the water. Our Burkinis are made in one size. If your tunic is a size L, you will also receive leggings/pants in size L. If you have a slimmer hip, the leggings/pants may become loose around the waist.
Our burkinis are in European sizing. This means the sizes correspond to European sizing, with a M fitting exactly like a M, and a L fitting like an L, etc. The burkinis come in a set. The set is one size fits all.
You are advised to be very critical when trying on your burkini.
All bodies are different. One person might wear a size L top but a size M bottom. This means the bottoms won't fit snugly enough.
Should you decide to keep the set in this situation and/or have the leggings/pants altered at a tailor's, the cost will be borne by the consumer. Please note that if the consumer finds the leggings/pants to be loose after use, we will not be able to accept them back, nor can we accept this as a claim/complaint after using the products.
Beware of slides and rough surfaces
Due to the increase in luxury pools with slides, swimwear sometimes becomes damaged and worn. The speed of the slide can cause damage such as weak spots, lint, or holes in the swimwear. These complaints are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty on our product. We recommend using an older swimsuit for this purpose.
Sitting along the pool edge or other rough surfaces such as concrete floors, tile walls, rocks, and other rough backgrounds can also cause damage. Smaller rough objects such as pebbles, shells, rough sand, and jewelry can also cause pilling or flaking on swimwear. Hot tubs can also cause these problems. The rotating action of the water moves the wearer back and forth, creating an abrasive effect on the surface. These signs of wear are also not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Discoloration of your swimwear
Despite the colorfastness of our swimwear, discoloration may occur in certain colors. However, this discoloration usually occurs due to improper care and is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
For example, if you don't rinse and hang your swimwear to dry immediately. Leaving wet swimwear in your bag overnight can cause discoloration due to the microorganisms that develop. This generally applies to all swimwear fabrics containing elastane, not just ours!
If you wash the swimsuit in the washing machine with other clothes that cause discolouration, this can happen after just one wash.
Discoloration can also occur due to iron-rich water, sunscreens, conditioners, chlorine, and harsh detergents. High concentrations will eventually discolor elastane and cotton fibers. The lifespan of stretchy swimwear is limited. White and light-colored swimwear can yellow/discolor due to excessive chlorine in the swimming pool.
Our swimwear is made with the utmost care. In our experience, MYKINY BRAND swimwear is incredibly durable. Treat your swimwear with care to enjoy it for as long as possible!
Our tips
To keep your swimwear in top condition for as long as possible, we recommend taking the following precautions:
- Rinse swimwear as soon as possible after use with cold water to remove any chemicals, chlorine, or salt water.
- Do not leave wet swimwear in a bag for a long time, as this may cause the fabric to disintegrate.
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
- Do not wring but only lightly squeeze out excess water
- Never allow to dry in the sun or on a heater as this will reduce elasticity and lightfastness.
- Please note that the fabric may pill when used on rough surfaces and slides.
- Let the swimwear dry by hanging in the air, away from heat sources.
- Follow the washing instructions on the product label.
- Do not store your burkini until it is completely dry to prevent discolouration.
- Avoid contact with sunscreen creams and oils.
- Use caution in spas or heated pools/hot tubs as these may shorten the life of your swimwear.
- Be careful not to wear colored clothing that may bleed over wet swimwear.
- We recommend that you do not wear your swimsuit in spas/hot tubs as this may discolour and damage your swimsuit.
- Tanning process will mark and damage swimwear.
- Be careful not to let your burkini/swimwear come into contact with your swimwear. This will damage the material and cause it to look linty.
